Three-LED flashlight is fairly bright for a small dynamo flashlight. Crank doesn't feel like it'll break after 60 seconds. Ordered the free cell phone adapter from Eton, but haven't been able to test that part yet. Compact, high build quality for price. Radio works fine for weather, but I wouldn't want to listen to music on it for very long.
The solar panel seems to be working well - I have not cranked it at all after receiving it and it always have sufficient power to run on.I only wish it has digital tuning. This is a little radio that can. It is easy to carry around (if you need to) and produces clear sound.
Not powerful but OK. I assume it's small size is designed to pack or take up little space in emergency spaces. In a January ice storm a neighbor loaned me a similar but larger radio and it was my lifeline. TINY but sufficient. I was stunned at how small it is but it does pick up a couple of local stations and the emergency alert system.
Overall I say this is a good and reliable emergency unit providing the basic needs for when the power goes out in the house and if you ever need an emergency weather band radio. I have had no problem getting reception with the antena up and directed. The earplug and usb connectors are standard and my mobile phone (T-Mobile Sidekick) head set and usb Power Adapter fit just fine although I have not yet tried recharging the Mobile phone the Head Set works excellent with the radio. This unit is a compact transistor type radio a little bigger than the size of the average male hand. I would definately recomend for the price. 30 seconds of hand cranking seems to be more than enough for plenty of air time. The Flashlight is so bright that I can't stare into the light although it is a bit scattered as a light it does provide plenty of light for its size. Mine came fully charged and it recharges quickly and easily through almost any light, not only sun light, or through hand cranking the sturdy handle. The weather band is great and works well and the radio is reliable but all reception is determined by the positioning of the analog antena.
Takes up little room and I always have light :) When camping, the NOAA lets us know the weather, leave it out and the sun charges it for you, forget to leave it in the sun, my 7 y/o winds it up, and then we listen to the radio until bed. Will charge your cell phone, but make sure you have the correct adapters. I thought this was going to be larger, and for a moment, was disappointed. Durable and light. I love it. However, once realizing how functional this unit is, I quickly changed my mind. I keep it in my Purse.
